Ethiopia
The world’s first zero-carbon malt house
Ethiopia is the largest producer of barley in Africa and the 4th largest beer producer on the continent. On a 10-hectare site on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, Malteries Soufflet Ethiopia benefits from a strategic location, in close proximity to the malt barley crops. Equipped with infrastructures for high industrial performance, this new malt house is also the first in the world to have zero carbon emissions, as a result of its use of 100% green energy produced by hydroelectric dams.
In order to respond to a rapidly developing market, we have been supporting the 50,000 producers in the Oromia region for several years by providing agronomic and commercial advisers and technicians.
